Honey Pig Germantown

So have I ever mentioned how much I love Korean BBQ? I have? Well, here we go again. Today I’m going to highlight Honey Pig, which in the DC Metro area, is the king of Korean BBQ. The place I went to is rather new. They just opened a couple of months ago and got horrible reviews. However, when I went everything seemed fine.

Banchan – Korean Side dishes

The Banchan were simple but tasted great. I really love the potatoes. The radish is always a favorite as well. For the main meal, we got the usual, delicious meat!

What you see here is the Kimchi, Pork Kalbi and Bulgogi. We also ordered Spicy Pork Bellym, but our waitress didn’t put that on til last. The reason why I like going to Honey Pig rather than always doing it at home is that even though it is expensive, at least my house won’t smell like barbeque for a week.

Honey Pig has 4 BBQ locations, 1 Izakaya and I think it has a dumpling house somewhere too. This new Germantown location is smaller than the other 3, but cleaner and less smokey than the Ellicot City location and a LOT closer to me than the Annandale or the Centreville location. I think even if I do get rude service, I’d still come here. Check this place out!

East Pearl Chinese Restaurant

Today we went to East Pearl Restaurant in Rockville. It was a special occasion because my mother’s birthday is coming soon and she loves Chinese food. This means my sisters and I were paying!

When it first opened it was one of the most exciting delicious new places that all the Chinese people in the area went to. The food is still pretty good, but respectfully, when the Chinese people are slowly being replaced with others…the restaurant tends to go down hill. Or maybe it’s the restaurant going downhill that is bringing in all the non Chinese people?

The food was all delicious. Except for the Sizzling Chicken in Casserole Dish. I never want to put something like that in my mouth again. But, I had to be adventurous and try something I had never tried before. Big Mistake! I will never do that again. This chicken dish was salty, had way too much garlic in it and was just not a tasty dish in the least. Unfortunately, since we didn’t want to take it home, nor leave it on the table, it was eaten until there was only a little left. My poor stomach is still complaining about the taste.

Come here for good Chinese food, but avoid the Sizzling Chicken at all costs.

Fagers Island @ Ocean City

The family goes to Ocean City in October almost every year so that we can take our dogs to the boardwalk and the beach. It’s a beautiful time for the family to bond and laugh at our dogs. This year, my oldest sister decided we just HAD to go to Fagers Island to see the sunset. Too bad it was raining so we didn’t see the sunset at all.

Fagers has two sections. There’s the fine dining section and the lite fare. The lite fare has sandwiches, a raw bar and other regular bar food that you would expect to see in Ocean City. The fine dining section is truly fine dining in prices, nicely dressed servers and food.

Anyway, now for the important part of any restaurant, the food!

My family and I made reservations for the fine dining section. We started out with two appetizers, Fresh Crisp Calamari and Fresh Eastern Shore Fried Oysters. The oysters were my favorite. The calamari on the other hand, I’ve had better. But the three sauces that came with the calamari would delicious!

The meals were all delicious. I had the prime rib and it was just divine. It was the tenderest, juiciest, best prime rib I have ever eaten and the fresh shaved horseradish was a treat. Although I think I prefer grated horseradish. I got to eat a bit of the duck and that was my favorite dish of the night. It was so succulent! Mm, still dreaming of that duck!

If you are ever in Ocean City for a special occasion, go here!
